Hi, Can somebody show me how to set up the adjustment of the Basik Plus tone arm correctly? As I'm the first time user of Linn 12, I just don't know how. There are counterweight, tracking weight dial, lift lever, anti-skating gauge, etc, which I'm not familiar with. I look forward to your step-by-step easy explanation for a novice like me. Hi, First, welcome to the forum. OK, to balance the tonearm you need to place your LP12 in a stable and level surface, preferably were it is going to stay. The tonearm must have a cartridge and the stylus protector must be removed during the balancing process.
You need to set the anti-skaiting dial to zero (0). Carefully rotate the counterweight until the tonearm floats parallel to the LP12 platter.
That's you zero point. The tracking weight dial and the counterweight rotate independently one of the other so proceed to carefully grab the counterweight so as it does not rotate and with the other hand rotate the tracking weight dial until the zero (0) is aligned with the white line in the back of the tonearm. Once you have completed this it is just a matter of rotating the counterweight (this will cause the tracking weight dial to also rotate) so that the tracking weight dial weight you desire is aligned with the white line in the back of the tonearm.
To finish just rotate the anti-skate dial to the same value as your selected tracking weight and you're good to go. The lift lever lets you slowly lower or lift the tonearm from the record. When not in use, place the stylus protector in your cartridge!!!
